SLPD Investigating Fatal Collision

On Tuesday, July 13th, shortly after 11 pm, San Leandro Police received several 911 calls regarding a vehicle collision at the San Leandro Marina.  Callers reported that the vehicle was completely submerged.

Numerous SLPD Officers responded to the scene and learned from witnesses that screams were heard from the vehicle.  Before the Fire Department’s arrival, SLPD Officers entered the waters to locate the car and its occupant.

With the help of the Alameda County Fire Department, a single occupant was rescued from the submerged vehicle.
Life-savings measures were attempted; however, the victim was pronounced deceased at a local trauma hospital.  The victim is described only as an adult female in her mid-20’s.  The victim’s identity will not be released until her next of kin has been notified.

“We are grateful for the swift actions taken by SLPD Officers and Alameda County Fire Department in rescuing the victim.  We are saddened by the news that she passed away.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family,” said Captain Ali Khan.
