HARPER WOODS RESIDENT CHARGED WITH ATTEMPT MURDER
On Wednesday July 14, 2021 JAMES LEWIS CARLOCK, a 34 year old Harper Woods resident, was arraigned in 32-A District Court in front of the Honorable Judge Rebekah R. Coleman. CARLOCK was charged as follows:
Count 1-Assault With Intent To Murder
Count 2-Assault With Intent To Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder
Count 3-Motor Vehicle-Unlawful Driving Away
Count 4-Domestic Violence
CARLOCK was also given a Habitual Fourth Offense notice due to his prior felony convictions.
CARLOCK has a Prelimininary Examination date scheduled for July 28, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. in 32-A District Court. Bond was set at $150,000.00 cash. If convicted, CARLOCK faces up to life in prison.
These charges stem from an incident reported to have occurred on Monday July 12, 2021 at approximately 3:00 a.m. in the 18000 block of Elkhart. It was reported that CARLOCK and his girlfriend who he resides with were arguing. During this argument, CARLOCK poured gasoline on the girlfriend then set her on fire. CARLOCK stole the girlfriend's vehicle and fled the area. The victim was rushed to a local hospital where she is being treated for her burn injuries. The victim is expected to recover and is listed in stable condition.
Harper Woods Detectives located CARLOCK in the City of Detroit driving the stolen vehicle and arrested him with the assistance of the Detroit Police Department.
