RED FLAG WARNING- Dry lightning potential Sunday into Monday.
RED FLAG WARNING- Dry lightning potential Sunday into Monday.
The National Weather Service has declared Red Flag Fire Weather warning from 1700 Sunday to 1700 Monday. There is also a chance of dry lightning and unsettled weather this evening.
Upper level moisture will increase over the region Sunday morning through Monday morning from the south. .The upper level moisture will accompany upper level instability increasing chances for thunderstorm activity.
Thunderstorms will be a mix of dry and wet, but given how dry the fuels are any lightning strikes will be problematic. The threat for thunderstorms diminishes Monday afternoon as the moisture moves northward.
During these times of elevated fire danger, LPD reminds all residents to ensure cell phone ringers are on and “Do Not Disturb” settings are turned off to facilitate receiving evacuation orders and warnings. Evacuation Orders are generated by the Community Warning System and any residents who have not registered should do so via https://cwsalerts.com/registration/.
Residents are also urged to avoid high risk activities such as using power equipment to clear brush and weeds.
