If you live or work in or near an area of the wildland fire near Walker Basin, Skinner Flat, and Claraville, please pay close attention to this message. This is an update to an earlier ReadyKern notification regarding the Peak Fire near Walker Basin and Skinner Flat. A wildland fire may become a threat to the Walker Basin, Skinner Flat and Claraville. Areas are currently under an Evacuation Warning. An Evacuation Warning means that the Peak Fire may become a threat in the near future, and all residents are advised to be prepared to leave the area at a moment’s notice if it becomes necessary. A Temporary Evacuation Point has been set up at Kern River Valley Senior Center located at 6405 Lake Isabella Blvd. Animal Services will assist with sheltering companion animals at the center You should also monitor your local media for updated information about the evacuation. If you have physical limitations and require evacuation assistance, please call the Aging & Adult Services hotline at 1-855-264-6565. If you have an emergency, call 911.
