Flash Flood Warning until 06:30PM Friday

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Coconino County in north central Arizona... Yavapai County in west central Arizona...

* Until 630 PM MST.

* At 325 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Oak Creek Canyon drainage including Sedona and Page Springs. Between 0.75 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life-threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life-threatening flash flooding of low-water crossings, creeks, normally dry washes and roads.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Sedona, Slide Rock State Park, Garland's Oak Creek Lodge, Junipine Resort, Page Springs, Village At Oak Creek, Red Rock State Park, Manzanita Campground, West Fork Of Oak Creek, Raymond Boy Scout Camp. This includes the following swimming holes... Sycamore Falls, Lower Sycamore Falls "The Golden Pond", Paradise Forks, Pumphouse Wash, Slide Rock, Encinoso, Grasshopper Point, Midgely Bridge, Buddha Beach/Red Rock Crossing, Crescent Moon Ranch and Mormons Crossing. This includes the following highways... State Route 89A between mile markers 359 and 391. State Route 179 between mile markers 300 and 313. Interstate 17 between mile markers 300 and 302. This includes the following streams and drainages... Turkey Creek, Tule Tank Wash, Sycamore Creek, JD Dam Wash, West Fork Oak Creek, Dry Creek, Spring Creek, Jacks Canyon, Verde River, Dry Beaver Creek, Volunteer Wash, Coffee Creek, Rarick Canyon, Rattlesnake Canyon, Oak Creek and Beaver Creek.

* AFFECTED AREAS: COCONINO, AZ ... YAVAPAI, AZ

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly or mountainous terrain, there are many low water crossings which will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
