Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 07/23/2021 at 0730 hours, his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash at the intersection of Redfield Street and Gumwood Road. Investigation shows that a North bound vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Brian Miller from East Bernstadt Kentucky, failed to yield to an East bound vehicle, driven by 43-year-old Steven Natelborg from Niles, Michigan. Miller’s passengers, 1 year old Grayson Miller and 21 yr old Gracie Cartwricght, was transported to Spectrum Health Lakeland Niles for evaluation. Natelborg was treated and released at the scene. 

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors and seatbelts were worn at the time of the crash.

Deputies were assisted by SMCAS ambulance, Niles Township Fire Department and the Michigan State Police.  This crash remains under investigation
