Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Conducts “Shoulder Tap” Operation
The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, under a grant funded through the California State Office of Traffic Safety, recently conducted a “Shoulder Tap” operation.
A “Shoulder Tap” operation is designed to discourage adults from purchasing or furnishing alcohol for minors.
On July 23, 2021, Stanislaus County Sheriff deputies utilized under-age Sheriff’s Explorers as decoys to conduct their “Shoulder Tap” operation.
During the eight-hour operation, the decoys contacted 30 people at six different ABC licensed businesses. Four adults allegedly purchased alcohol for the decoys.
Four adults received citations for furnishing alcohol to minors and are scheduled to appear later in Stanislaus County Superior Courthouse.
Funding for this program was provided through a grant sponsored by the California Office of Traffic Safety, namely the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
