Hate Crime Investigation 
On July 26, 2021, the Town of San Anselmo reported that a hate crime occurred on the baseball fields in Memorial Park. The Town reported that someone had taken the scoreboard numbers and arranged them into “1488” on the field #2 scoreboard. The number sequence “1488” is a well-known sequence used by white supremacist groups to instill fear in others.
The Central Marin Police Authority takes all hate crimes and hate speech very seriously and will not tolerate it in the communities we serve. If anyone witnessed this crime or has any information that can help identify the suspect(s), please contact Detective Cynthia Keast at (415) 927-5175.
