Crime Alert Bulletin for the week of July 19-25, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 07-19-21 at approximately 12:03 a.m., a 38-year old Daly City resident (victim) called 911 saying there was blood everywhere. Officers were dispatched to the unit block of Mariner Lane where the dispatchers said the subject was involved in a mutual fight with a friend and was bleeding from his neck. Officer Arguelles assisted in applying pressure to the victim’s laceration and kept talking to the victim until fire personnel arrived. The victim was transported to hospital to be treated. Later in the afternoon, detectives arrested the victim’s 23-year old neighbor for attempted murder.

On Tuesday, 07-20-21 at 9:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Dollar Tree store on Mission Street on a report of a just-occurred brandishing of a knife. The dispatcher gave a description of the subject and said he was last seen getting on a northbound MUNI bus. The reporting party said she noticed the subject when he entered the store because he walked in unmasked and was coughing. The manager asked the subject to put the merchandise down and leave the store. The subject told the manager that he was not going anywhere and threatened to stab her. About 20 minutes later, officers found the subject at Mission Street and Hillcrest Drive. After the victim/manager positively identified the subject, officers arrested the subject, a 51-year old San Francisco resident, for robbery, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia and for an outstanding no-bail parolee at-large warrant.

On Tuesday, 07-20-21 at 4:00 p.m., an 86-year old man flagged down Officer Poti and Officer Zhang near the intersection of Junipero Serra Boulevard and John Daly Boulevard. The reporting party said he lived with his son in Oakley and was dropped off by a friend at a shopping center but did not know what happened after that. The officers looked through the subject’s flip phone, but they could not find any phone numbers to call. The subject had an identification card with an address in Redwood City, and the officers were able to get a hold of the subject’s son who told them that his father lived with his brother in Oakley. The officers contacted the other son to pick up his father at the police station. They also contacted the Adult Protective Services in Contra Costa County. The subject was in good physical health and was happy.

On Thursday, 07-22-21 at approximately 5:03 a.m., a 31-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he was involved in a traffic collision at Wyandotte Avenue and Thiers Street. The subject was also charged with being violation of a court order.

On Friday, 07-23-21 at 12:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Geneva Avenue and Castillo Street on a report of a subject sitting inside of the reporting party’s parked vehicle. The officers woke up the subject who was in the passenger seat. They smelled a strong odor of alcohol and saw that the subject had urinated on himself. The subject, a 33-year old San Francisco resident, was extremely intoxicated and was taken to Seton Hospital.

On Tuesday, 07-20-21 between 7:30 a.m. and 7:40 a.m., a 24-year old Daly City resident walked out of the front door of her apartment complex on the unit block of Poncetta Drive and said two unknown subjects ran up to her, pushed her and caused her to fall the ground. The victim said she had her cellphone in her hand when she fell, and she dropped her phone. The victim said the first suspect picked up the phone, and the second suspect threatened to hurt her if she yelled or screamed. The suspects ran towards the fence line next to the 280 southbound ramp and John Daly Boulevard. The victim said the suspects ran through a hole in the fence, and she lost sight of them. The victim described the first suspect as an unknown Hispanic male in his 20’s, 5’7”, average build, brown hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The victim described the second suspect as a black male, 25 years old, 5’8”, husky build, black shirt hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.

On Tuesday, 07-20-21 at approximately 3:44 p.m., a director of operations for a cannabis delivery company in Oakland called and said one of her drivers was robbed an hour prior. The director said the 21-year old driver was delivering an order to a residence on the 200 block of Alta Loma Avenue when he was approached by two unknown African American suspects at gun point who robbed him of his clothes, phone, wallet, and two briefcases containing cannabis product. This case is under investigation.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
