Tsunami Warning until 11:21PM
If you are located in this coastal area, move inland to higher ground. Tsunami warnings mean that a tsunami with significant inundation is possible or is already occurring. Tsunamis are a series of waves dangerous many hours after initial arrival time. The first wave may not be the largest. At 1016 PM Alaska Daylight Time on July 28 an earthquake with preliminary magnitude 8.1 occurred 60 miles southeast of Chignik Alaska. Estimated tsunami start times for selected sites are; Sand Point Alaska 1055 PM. AKDT. July 28. Unalaska Alaska 1150 PM. AKDT. July 28. Kodiak Alaska 1155 PM. AKDT. July 28. Cold Bay Alaska 1210 AM. AKDT. July 29. Seward Alaska 1220 AM. AKDT. July 29. Homer Alaska 100 AM. AKDT. July 29. The tsunami warning will remain in effect until further notice.
