With heat index values of 100 to 107 expected this afternoon into this evening the Pekin Police lobby will be open as a cooling center from 11 am to 11 pm. Air conditioning and cold water are available to those who need it.
Hot temperatures and high humidity will threaten heat- related illness for people and pets that experience prolonged exposure to these dangerous outdoor conditions.
