Sunnyvale Police Arrest Three Suspects for Several Charges including Carjacking and Robbery.

On July 11, 2021 at 10:15 pm, Sunnyvale officers responded to the Shell gas station at 1300 Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road for a carjacking and robbery that had just occurred.  The victim said he was fueling his car at the gas pump when he was approached by three suspects. One of the suspects pointed a black “machine gun” at the victim and demanded the keys to his car.  Out of fear for his life, the victim gave the suspect the keys and all three suspects fled on Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road in the victim’s car.

Several days later the victim’s car was found abandoned in San Jose. Sunnyvale DPS CSI’s located latent fingerprints on the car and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Identification Unit quickly determined the fingerprints belonged to Michael Davis and a juvenile. On July 23, 2021 the Sunnyvale SWAT team served a search warrant at suspect Michael Davis’ house in Santa Clara and located additional evidence further linking him and the juvenile to the crime.  Both Michael Davis and the juvenile suspect were arrested for carjacking (CA penal code 215). Aaron Hernandez of Sunnyvale was identified as the third suspect.

On the afternoon of July 28, 2021 Sunnyvale SWAT served a search warrant at Aaron Hernandez home in Sunnyvale.  During the search a stolen handgun and two “Airsoft” type rifles resembling AR-15’s were discovered. Aaron Hernandez was arrested and ultimately booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for several charges including carjacking (CA penal code 215), felon in possession of a firearm (CA penal code 29800) and possession of stolen property (CA penal code 496).

We would like to thank the San Jose Police Department, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and the Santa Clara Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
