Flood Advisory until 05:45PM

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for... North Central Dolores County in southwestern Colorado... Northwestern San Miguel County in southwestern Colorado...

* Until 545 PM MDT.

* At 236 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... mainly rural areas of North Central Dolores and Northwestern San Miguel Counties This includes the following streams and drainages... Nelson Creek, Spring Creek, Spectacle Creek, Naturita Creek, Hunt Creek, Desert Claim Arroyo, Ryman Creek, Dry Creek, Big Gypsum Creek, Hamilton Creek, Dead Horse Creek, West Fork Dry Creek, Disappointment Creek and Log Corral Creek. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.3 to 0.6 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

* AFFECTED AREAS: DOLORES, CO ... SAN MIGUEL, CO

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
