Deputy recovers ghost gun from a convicted felon during a traffic stop

INCIDENT: PC 29800(a)(1)- Felon In Possession of a Firearm
PC 25850(c)(6)- Possession of Firearm with No Serial Number and additional weapon charges
LOCATION: Barton Road / Preston Street, Grand Terrace
SUSPECT(S): Ronaldo Brown, 53-year-old resident of Colton
SUMMARY: On July 30, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Deputy Ancona from the Sheriff's Central Statio initiated a traffic stop on a red Chevrolet Tahoe for speeding. The vehicle yielded and was occupied by three individuals. The driver, Ronaldo Brown, admitted to being impaired and not possessing a valid driver's license.
As Ancona asked the occupants to exit the vehicle, Brown, admitted he had a loaded handgun under the seat. Ancona safely detained all occupants, and the handgun was recovered. The handgun was loaded with 9mm ammunition, had no serial number and is considered a, "ghost gun." Since May 2017, Brown is a convicted felon in the State of California and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Brown was arrested for PC 29800(a)(1)- Felon in Possession of a Firearm, PC 25850(c)(6)- Possession of Firearm with No Serial Number, and additional weapon charges. He was booked at Central Detention Center where he is being held on $50,000 bail.
