Juvenile Suspect Arrested for Shooting Incident

Suspect:  16-year old male (In-custody)

On Thursday, July 29th, 2021, at approximately 12:00 PM, Redwood City Police Officers responded to the 1500 block of Gordon Street on a report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, Officers contacted the victim who stated he was checking on his parked vehicle when he observed the suspect vehicle approaching him at a high rate of speed.  The victim stated the passenger window was down and the suspect pointed a gun and fired at least five times at him, narrowly missing him but striking his vehicle.   The suspect was known to the victim, and later positively identified by the victim.  Officers located spent 9mm casings at the scene.
 
Redwood City Street Crime Suppression Team Detectives conducted surveillance at the suspect’s residence when they observed him walking in the area.  The sixteen-year old suspect was contacted and arrested without incident.  Detectives located 9mm ammunition and a 9mm magazine on the suspect’s person.  The weapon is still outstanding.  The suspect was booked into the Hillcrest Youth Services Center for attempted murder.
