The Jackson Police Department's Bomb unit has been working hard to better serve this community.
Jackson and West Tennessee, look at this:
Officer Kellen Holmes recently graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Hazardous Devices School becoming a certified Public Safety Bomb Technician. He is the fifth Bomb Technician on the Bomb Squad of the Jackson Police Department.
An honor that is only due to a select few Public Safety Bomb Technicians across this country has been offered to Officer Rusty Ballentine. Officer Ballentine has been requested to become an Adjunct Instructor at the National Center for Explosive Training and Research (NCETR) for Advanced Explosives and Disposal Techniques (AEDT) courses.
Officer Royal Cole, the Unit Commander, has been selected by ATF (the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) to start their Certified Explosive Specialist (CES) program. Officer Cole is one of forty-seven Public Safety Bomb Technicians to ever be honored with the opportunity to enter the program and one of only six this year.
The program is a two year graduate level course through Oklahoma State University and specializes in explosive forensic examination. There are currently 212 ATF Certified Explosive Specialists in the world.
These officers have been working extremely hard to better serve the citizens of this community.
Congratulations Team!!
