Green Bay Police Investigate Shooting After Home Break-In
On 8/5/21 at 4:00am, Green Bay police officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Mount Mary Drive, located on the east side of the city, for a report of an attempted break-in to a residence. While officers were arriving and establishing a perimeter, a second call for service came in for a break-in that had just occurred in the 1000 block of Laverne drive. Both residences are located within one block of each other.
As officers responded to the second location, they were notified that the resident of the second home had been involved in a confrontation with the intruder inside his residence and that he had shot the intruder.
When officers arrived, they were able to secure the scene and provide medical aid to the suspect. The suspect received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body and was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. The victim of the break-in is cooperating with officials.
The suspect has been identified as a 31-year-old man from the Green Bay area. Charges for the suspect are expected to be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office once the investigation is complete. The investigation is ongoing as officers continue to investigate a possible correlation between the two scenes.
Currently, there is no threat to the community at large. Detectives and Forensic Investigators are still actively investigating the two scenes involved.
