Severe weather & Flooding

Periods of thunderstorms are likely through tonight with a few severe storms possible. The main hazards will be large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall. An isolated tornado is also possible. Localized flooding could occur if storms repeat
over the same area.  This storm system has alreadty generated a tornado in Northern Grant County near Muscoda and a tornado has been issued for Iowa County.  Flooding is could occur along the Pine River.

Flood warning for Kickapoo River - 
For the Kickapoo River...including Ontario, La Farge, Viola, Readstown, Soldiers Grove, Gays Mills, Steuben...Moderate flooding is forecast.

You are encouraged to be weather aware for the next 48 hours.


  • What: rounds of storms through Sunday. Torrential rain, hail, strong to damaging winds, and an isolated tornado possible.  
  • Where: Entire area
  • Timing: Highest risk this afternoon and tonight
  • Impacts: damage from hail to property, homes, crops possible. Winds could lead to tree damage, downed power lines. Localized flooding possible, with rises on some rivers and streams
  • ACTION: stay weather aware! Take shelter when storms approach. If flooding is observed, move to higher ground

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross floodedroads. Find an alternate route.
