Suspect Arrested in Early Morning Residential Burglary
On August 8, 2021 just after 5:30 a.m. Janesville police officers were dispatched to a report of a residential burglary that had just occurred in the 1400 block of Barberry Dr. A female resident reported she woke to find a male looking through her bedroom with a flashlight. She alerted her husband who struggled with the suspect, and the suspect broke free and fled on foot. The suspect had been in the home for several minutes and had prepared to steal several items including various firearms. The suspect dropped two firearms as he fled.
With a description of the suspect, responding officers checked for suspects and video from nearby businesses. The investigation led to the identification of Dillon Dutcher as a suspect in this burglary and he was taken into custody at a northside residence. Dutcher was also being sought for the burglary to Hair Designs by Phil on Excalibur Dr. and the damage to four other businesses which occurred on July 26, 2021. Dutcher was taken to the Rock County Jail.
