                Capt. Shanon Smith of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Wayne Gilbert Lassiter, 54, address listed as Justice Road in Marion, with cruelty to animals.
                An Old Fort man reported that, on Tuesday, June 1, he was walking outside his U.S. 70 West residence with his dog, when a car, operated by Lassiter, traveled through his yard, struck his canine and ended up in a ditch.
                Lassiter was found to be impaired. The victim’s dog died.
