Northfield Twp Police handled 438 calls for service this month
 
07/01/2021      Harassment
Main & Jennings – A complainant reported feeling threatened/ harassed  by a former roommate. Officers mediated the situation with both parties agreeing to leave the other alone.
 
07/01/2021       Arrest & Release – Misdemeanor Reckless Driving Citations issued
U.S. 23 & N. Territorial - An officer monitoring traffic observed a vehicle driving in excess of 100 mph, changing lanes and having no regard for the safety of others.  Upon a traffic stop of the vehicle, the driver was issued citations and given a misdemeanor appearance ticket for reckless driving.
 
07/03/2021      Arrest – Operating While Intoxicated
Coyle & Winters – Officers responded to a single vehicle crash and during the investigation recognized that the driver displayed signs of intoxication.  The driver was arrested and transported to U of M where a search warrant was obtained for the driver’s blood.  The case remains open pending the lab results.
 
07/07/2021      Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile (Stolen Vehicle) / Recovered
Emerald Circle East – A complainant reported that a known subject had taken his vehicle without permission and the complainant was unable to get the vehicle back.  An Officer entered the stolen vehicle in the police computer system and the  vehicle was recovered by another jurisdiction.  Upon return of the complainant’s vehicle he did not wish to continue with charges against the suspect.
 
07/06/2021      Retail Fraud (Theft from Merchant)
6800 Block of Whitmore Lake – A complainant reported that a white male 30-40 years old entered the business, cut a lock and removed a battery operated tool and charger from its’ case.  The suspect then concealed the items within his clothing before exiting and abruptly driving away from the business in an older model maroon minivan.  The case remains under investigation.
 
 
07/06/2021      Arrest & Release– Driving on a Suspended License Citation Issued
E North Territorial and U.S. 23 – While investigating a vehicle crash, the Officer determined the driver had no license and it was discovered that his license was revoked. The subject was arrested and released with an appearance ticket. The vehicle was privately towed from the scene.
 
07/07/2021      Trespass Warning
3500 block of Seven Mile – A complainant reported that an individual who had been staying on her property was no longer invited to stay on her property without some compensation. The subject refuse to agree to the plan and was told he would have to leave the property. The subject did leave, but left  many of his belongings on the property.  The complainant was concerned for her property and requested the subject be warned of trespass.  The subject was located and a trespass warning issued.
 
07/07/2021      Arrest & Release No license Ever Acquired
East Shore & Elizabeth – An Officer on patrol observed a driver not wearing her seatbelt.  Upon a traffic stop,  the Officer discovered that the 29 year old driver did not have a license.  The subject was issued a Misdemeanor appearance ticket and released from the scene. 
 
07/08/2021      Hit & Run –
300 block of Six Mile – A complainant reported that after pumping gas, she entered the store and upon returning to her vehicle observed a scratch down the driver’s side of her vehicle and also observed the mirror had been knocked out of position. The Officer reviewed some evidence, but no suspects have been identified.
 
07/11/2021       Arrest & Release – Driving on a Suspended License
U.S. 23 & Six Mile -  An Officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding and discovered the 25 year old driver was driving on a suspended driver’s license.  The vehicle was towed, the driver arrested,  issued an appearance misdemeanor citation and was released.
 
07/12/2021      Stolen Riding Lawn Mower – Recovered with an Arrest
6800 block of Whitmore Lake – A complainant reported that during the night (7/11-7/12) a lock was cut and a riding lawn mower taken from the property.  After reviewing a video, the complainant was able to determine the incident occurred at 2:40 am by three male suspects.  The investigation led to an arrest.  The property was recovered and additional suspects were identified. The case remains under investigation.

07/12/2021      Larceny of Trailer – Recovered with an Arrest
8800 block of Wildwood Trail – A complainant reported that during the night, unknown subjects had taken their open bed trailer from their property. The trailer was recovered and two arrests made in Wayne County.  Additional suspects have also been identified and the case remains under investigation.
 
07/14/2021      Assault & Battery
Anna Ct – Officers responded to a reported assault, the investigation revealed that two male acquaintances had a disagreement which turned physical.  A third party broke up the physical altercation and no serious injuries had occurred.  The report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office where no charges were filed against either subject.
 
07/20/2021      Malicious Destruction of Property
Brookside – A complainant reported that she has had ongoing problems with a neighbor and believes the neighbor is responsible for the damage done to her outside potted plants. The complainant recently witnessed the neighbor remove and dispose of some of her property. An investigation was completed and the findings forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review of charges.
 
07/20/2021      Assault & Battery – Road Rage
Main St & Barker – A victim reported that while making a turn, her vehicle drifted into the lane of a maroon van waiting to turn onto Main St.  .Realizing her mistake the driver corrected her action and gave an apology hand signal.  The driver of the van, followed the victim into the parking lot, yelling profanities.  The victim continued to attempt to apologize, but the driver exited his vehicle and punched the victim in the face/neck area.  The suspect driver returned to his vehicle and drove north on Main Street.  If anyone witnessed this incident they are asked to contact the Northfield Twp Police.  The case remains under investigation.
 
07/22/2021      Arrest & Release – Driving without a Driver License ever Acquired
U.S. 23 & Six Mile – An Officer on patrol observed a speeding vehicle and during the traffic stop discovered the driver did not have a driver’s license.  The vehicle was impounded, the driver was arrested and released with a misdemeanor appearance ticket.
 
 07/22/2021      Fleeing & Eluding
Diamond Circle - Officers responded for a well-being check.  The caller requested Officers check on a friend who she feared was  in harm’s way. The caller identified a known subject and vehicle that may be in the area and  the subject was possibly armed with a firearm. As Officers responded they observed the vehicle occupied by a male suspect, but when Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle sped off at a high rate of speed.  An Officer pursued the vehicle but terminated the pursuit at U.S. 23  and Geddes.  The investigation did reveal the suspect involved and the case remains under investigation.
 
07/23/2021      Arrest & Release -Driving on a Suspended License - 2nd Offense
U.S. 23 – An Officer on patrol observed a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed. When the Officer made a traffic stop of the vehicle, he discovered the driver had several suspensions. The vehicle was impounded and the driver arrested and released with a speeding ticket.  The case was forwarded to the prosecutor’s for review of pending charges.
 
07/26/2021      Larceny of Riding Lawn Mower
6800 block of Whitmore Lake Rd – A complainant reported that during the night of July 25, a suspect cut the lock of a storage area and removed a riding lawn mower still in the packaging crate. No suspects were identified at the time of the incident.  The case remains under investigation.
 
07/28/2021      Larceny (Theft) from Garage
200 block of East Shore – A complainant reported that sometime during the night of July 26, a weed whipper and tools were taken from his unsecured garage. No evidence or suspects were identified at the time of the report. Case remains open
 
07/29/2021      Malicious Destruction of Property
9100 block of Main St – A complainant from the Senior Center reported that sometime during the night of July 29, three benches in front of the Community Center were destroyed.  The investigation led to two suspects being arrested, a young adult and a juvenile.  The Senior Center  agreed to have the suspects pay restitution and give several hours of community service in lieu of criminal prosecution. The benches were repaired and the case was closed
  
07/31/2021      Larceny from Auto
300 block of Westbrook – A complainant reported that sometime between 9 pm on July 30 and 11:30 am July 31, unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked vehicle and removed her purse. Further, someone had attempted to make purchases with her credit cards.  The case remains under investigation.
 
*** Lost & Found Property
A phone was found and turned in to the police department after the fireworks. We were not able to determine ownership of the phone.   If you lost your phone that night contact the police department.
 
An Officer was dispatched to Main & Jennings regarding a bike in the creek –Officers were unable to determine ownership of the bike. If anyone is missing a bike they should call the police department.
