Deputies arrested Charles Gutierrez of Mohave Valley for Felony Evading and Driving Under the Influence

INCIDENT: Traffic Pursuit - CVC 2800.2 Felony Evading, CVC 23152 (f) - Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
LOCATION: City of Needles
SUSPECT(S): Charles Gutierrez, 29yrs, Mohave Valley, Arizona
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, August 8, 2021, at approximately 4:20 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for excessive speed near River Rd and Needles Hwy in the City of Needles.
The vehicle failed to stop and deputies pursued the vehicle into the State of Arizona. The driver, Charles Gutierrez, drove recklessly evading law enforcement and endangered the public on the roadway. Ultimately, the vehicle became stuck in the sand north of the intersection of Courtright Road and Ranchero Lane in Mohave Valley, Arizona.
Deputies contacted Gutierrez in the vehicle, and he was taken into custody without incident. Gutierrez was arrested for California Vehicle Code Section 2800.2, Felony Evading of a Peace Officer and California Vehicle Code Section 23152(f), Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.
Gutierrez was booked into the Needles Jail and is being held on $100,000.00 bail pending a court arraignment.
