SUBJECT:  Commercial Burglar Arrested and Charged

LOCATION: Rt. 35 in Ocean Township            
 
ACCUSED: Cowan Rainey 46 year old male of Ocean, NJ
 
NARRATIVE:   On June 26^th, 2021 Patrol officers responded to a business on Rt. 35 near the Asbury Circle for a report of a commercial burglary.  The actor forced entry to an adjacent business and then broke through the sheetrock into a second business and removed items.  On July 28^th, 2021 Patrol officers responded another business on Rt. 35 near Sunset Avenue for a report of a commercial burglary.  The actor entered this business in the same fashion and removed items. 
     Detective Zachary Rhein responded and processed both scenes.  During his investigation, Detective Rhein identified a suspect as Cowan Rainey.  A search warrant was conducted at Rainey’s address and items were recovered that tied him to both burglaries.  Rainey was arrested and charged Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Theft and Possession of Burglar Tools.  He was committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute pending an initial court appearance.
