Deputies responded to the Bank of America on Hwy18 following the report of a card skimming device being located

DATE/TIME: Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at approximately 9:34 am
 
INCIDENT:  Computer Crime
 
LOCATION: 21000 block of State Hwy 18 in the Town of Apple Valley
 
VICTIM(S):  Bank of America
 
 
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to the Bank of America located in the 21000 block of State Hwy 18 in the Town of Apple Valley following a report of a card skimming device.
 
Upon arrival, Deputy Vallejo learned a Bank of America employee located a credit card skimming device in the drive-up ATM located on the east of the building.
 
We want to remind the public before using any ATM, look for obvious signs of tampering. Such as a loose credit card reader or a reader that sticks out past the panel. Ensure the ATMs security seal is still intact, and the PIN Pad does not appear thicker than usual.
