DETAILS:
On August 10, 2021, Los Altos Police Detectives arrested East Palo Alto resident Deepak Charan for a series of sexual assaults against juveniles, which occurred at his former place of employment in the City of Los Altos.
 
Charan, a convicted sex offender, was employed at Trader Joe’s, located at 2310 Homestead Road in Los Altos. A juvenile male victim reported that while shopping at Trader Joe’s, Charan approached him and touched him in an inappropriate sexual manner.
 
During the investigation, a second male juvenile victim reported to police that Charan had touched him in a similar manner. The two victims did not know each other.  Los Altos Police Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Charan.
 
On August 10, 2021, Los Altos Police Detectives arrested Charan at the office of his San Mateo County Probation officer in Redwood City. Charan was transported and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose.
