STORM DAMAGE AND OUTAGE UPDATE 10:00 am
STORM DAMAGE AND OUTAGE UPDATE 10:00 am: City of Sturgis electric and Department of Public Services crews continue to deal with widespread and severe storm damage and power outages in our service area, made worse by the latest round of storms early this morning. Estimates for full restoration of electric service have been pushed back, with no current timeline for full restoration. Outages remain both within the city limits and outside electric service areas. The latest round of storms added additional outages this morning. The City has activated mutual aid resources for the electric department to get additional help with repairs.
Residents with electric outages are asked to call the 24-hour outage line at 269-659-7255. This system will log your outage and will automatically help crews identify outage areas in need of repair. The system will also contact you back when power has been restored, allowing you to confirm repair or identify that a problem still remains. This too helps us understand the scope of outages and return the entire area to service.
If you need to report downed City trees or tree limbs that are obstructing roads, please contact the Department of Public Services at 269-651-2879.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as our crews work hard to restore service. As additional updates are available they will be posted to the City’s Facebook page, Nixel alert system, and be provided to the local media.
