STORM DAMAGE AND OUTAGE UPDATE 8:45 pm 
STORM DAMAGE AND OUTAGE UPDATE 8:45 pm: The City of Sturgis Electric Department continues to address outages from the severe storm damage since Wednesday. City crews have been joined by mutual aid assistance to help address the immense damage to the electric system.
As of this evening crews anticipate that work to restore power in the Sturgis city limits may continue for some customers through the weekend, while customers north of the city can expect significantly longer timeframes until service is restored. Damage to the electric system, particularly in areas outside of town is unprecedented due to the extensive amount of damage from downed trees and broken power poles.
Customers with new outage issues are asked to continue to utilize the 24-hour outage line at 269-659-7255. For issues with downed City trees or tree limbs that are obstructing roads, please continue to contact the Department of Public Services at 269-651-2879.
We ask for your continued understanding and patience as our crews and mutual aid assistance work hard to restore service as rapidly as we can. We will continue to provide updates through local media, our City Facebook page (facebook.com/sturgismi) and the Nixle alert system.
