Narrative:
An attempted burglary and prowling suspect was identified through RING video surveillance footage.  The suspect was later contacted and found to be in possession of stolen property and admitted to committing thefts from two different vehicles. 
 
On 08/11/21, deputies from the Camarillo Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious subject.  It was determined that the suspicious subject had attempted to enter an inhabited apartment in the late hours of the night.  The suspect also climbed onto a second story balcony of a neighboring apartment.  The victims posted their video surveillance footage online using the RING application.  Camarillo Station detectives were able to identify the suspect based on the footage.
 
The suspect was later contacted and found to be in possession of two victim’s credit cards and identification cards.  The suspect admitted to unlawfully entering two different vehicles and stealing the two separate victim’s wallets from their vehicles.
 
The suspect was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for attempted burglary, prowling, and two additional charges of theft from a vehicle.
 
The Camarillo Police Department would like to encourage its residents to utilize technology such as RING to share video and other information with the police department and the community to further prevent crime and assist investigators in identifying suspects.  The best way for us to address crime is though information sharing and community partnerships.
