SCAM ALERT: Caller impersonating sheriff's deputy trying to take money from residents; call 652-2235 with concerns 
Someone impersonating a McDowell County sheriff’s deputy is trying to scam local residents out of money.
Deputies have fielded calls from citizens saying they were contacted on a local phone number by a person that identified himself as Lt. Andy Manis with the Sheriff’s Office, and he told the citizen they needed to pay a fine or they would go to jail.
Manis nor any other sheriff’s deputy would call residents and request money. Do not fall for this scam. Do not give money or personal information to someone you don’t know.
