UPDATE: Railway Ave Shooting
AUGUST 14, 2021 UPDATE:
On August 13, 2021, at approximate 1723 hours, Seward Police Department responded to Railway Avenue in the vicinity of the SeaLife Center parking lot for a reported shooting. Officers arrived on scene and detained Anthony Hamby (27). Hamby stated that he had an ongoing dispute with the shooting victim, Keshawn Williams (25). Hamby alleged that Williams had approached Hamby aggressively, so Hamby fired his handgun at Williams, striking Williams multiple times.
Williams was transported to the Providence Seward ER, where he was then flown to Anchorage for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds.
After interviewing Hamby and several eyewitnesses, Seward Police arrested Hamby on the charges of Attempted Murder in the 1st Degree and Assault in the 1st Degree. Hamby was booked into the Seward Community Jail.
The Seward Police Department would like to thank the Alaska State Troopers, National Park Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Seward Volunteer Fire Department for their assistance in processing the scene.

Press Release Re: Shooting in Seward.
On 8/13/2021 at approximately 1725 hours, the Seward Police Department responded to a shooting near Railway and 6th Ave in Seward. One male was taken into custody and another male was taken to Seward Providence Medical Center with unspecified injuries. The victim male was flown to Anchorage for treatment. This is an on-going investigation, and more information may be available later. There is no on-going danger to the public. A perimeter has been established around the location of the shooting and all traffic is being directed away from the area until further notice. Citizens are asked to avoid the area to assist in the timely completion of the investigation.
