On Monday, August 16, 2021 at approximately 1021 hours, Readington Township Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Rt.22 West and Coddington Rd. for a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles.  During the investigation, the officers noticed that one of the drivers appeared to be intoxicated.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as John Hartrum of Bridgewater, NJ.  Officers had Hartrum preform Standardized Field Sobriety Test, which he failed.  Hartrum was placed under arrest for DWI. A search of Hartrum also revealed a crack cocaine glass smoking pipe.  Hartrum was charged with DWI, Careless driving, operating a motor vehicle in possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Hartrum was released to a sober adult pending a future court appearance. The filing of charges is a merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
