RED FLAG WARNING TODAY, Truckee/Tahoe, EXTREME FIRE Danger Windy & Dry. Are you prepared to evacuate?

RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR GREATER LAKE TAHOE AND TRUCKEE AREA...

Fire Zone 272 Greater Lake Tahoe and Truckee Area.

* Winds...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 40 mph. Higher gusts possible in wind prone areas and along exposed terrain.

* Humidity...Minimum values 15 to 20 percent.

* Duration...3 to 6 hours.

* Impacts...The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires. Follow local fire restrictions. Check weather.gov/reno for updates and livingwithfire.info for preparedness tips.

Keep your phone turned on and near your bed during the night so you can get evacuation notices. Always be prepared to evacuate in Fire Season.

Have a GO BAG ready with your important items, have a garden hose ready, park fueled cars facing out, know two ways out of your neighborhood, pay attention to your phone for evacuation notices and GO EARLY, if you see smoke or think you should go. NO OPEN FLAMES
