PG&E announces likely PSPS for parts of Napa County beginning tonight; scope recently expanded
Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) has notified Napa County that a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) is likely to occur, beginning tonight, Tuesday August 17, 2021, with restoration expected to begin on Thursday morning, August 19, 2021. PG&E expanded the scope of the expected power shut-offs, so it is important to look up your address to see if it will be impacted: https://pgealerts.alerts.pge.com/updates/psps-events/
PG&E has notified the County that approximately 6,800 customers within Napa County may be affected by the PSPS. Information from PG&E is subject to change as weather conditions evolve.

- Stock up on supplies to last a week and refresh them at least once a year.
- Food safety: make your own ice ahead of time, set your refrigerator and freezer to their coldest settings until power is restored, use coolers to keep food cold while power is off, limit opening refrigerator and freezer doors.
- Health: Plan for any medical needs like medications that need to be refrigerated or devices that require power.
- Technology: have a backup key to replace electronic keys and locks, turn off/unplug electrical appliances or equipment that may spark or surge when power returns; buy a battery-powered or crank radio; charge cell phones and backup chargers in advance
- Home: keep cash on hand and full up gas tanks, keep flashlights in reach, practice opening garage doors manually, make sure your electric vehicle’s battery is fully charged
- If you own a backup generator, ensure it is ready to safely operate.
