The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood Watch, in effect for Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Kahoolawe from 08-22-2021 00:01 until 08-24-2021 11:59 PM.
* From Sunday morning through late Monday night.
* Heavy rain capable of producing flash flooding will develop over the area Sunday through Monday night. The threat for heavy rain will first materialize over Maui County and the Big Island on Sunday, and then spread westward over the remainder of the area late Sunday night through Monday night.
Impacts: Extended periods of rain could cause flooding in low spots which could make some roadways impassable. Debris in streams and gulches may clog bridges and culverts.
Precautionary Measures: Flash flooding is a dangerous emergency. If you are in the area of a flash flood Watch you should be prepared for heavy rains and potential flooding. Please continue to monitor the weather forecast and be prepared to take immediate action when flash flood warnings are issued. Campers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts should reschedule their outings to a time when weather is expected to be more favorable.
REMEMBER...IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE RAINING HEAVILY WHERE YOU ARE FOR FLASH FLOODING TO OCCUR. DO NOT CROSS FAST FLOWING OR RISING WATER IN ON FOOT, OR IN A VEHICLE...TURN AROUND...DON'T DROWN...
