Carson, Calif. – 2 drivers were arrested for DUI while conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, August 20, 2021.
The checkpoint was held at Avalon Blvd and San Pedro St., from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

1 driver was cited/arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, 251 vehicles were contacted. 2 drivers were additionally charged for driving with a suspended license and failing to have an Ignition Interlock Device installed on their vehicle and one driver was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is committed to keeping the public safe when they are traveling.

Then Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will continue to hold DUI/Driver’s License checkpoints throughout the year.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
