Arizona Man Taken into Custody After Shooting at Police Officers and Crossing into California
DATE/TIME: August 21, 2021, at approximately 12:05 a.m.
INCIDENT: PC 2800.2 Failure to Yield (Reckless), Pc 245(d)(1) Assault with a Firearm on a Peace Officer
LOCATION: State Highway 62 near MM 97, Earp
SUSPECT(S): Julio Cesar Salcedo-Ramirez, 20-year-old resident of Parker, AZ
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Saturday, August 21, 2021, deputies from the Colorado River Station responded to assist La Paz County Sheriff and Parker Police Department in a vehicle pursuit of a suspect who shot at officers that travelled into California.
Salcedo-Ramirez fired multiple rounds at officers in Parker, Arizona then fled the area in his vehicle. Salcedo-Ramirez crossed into California and drove at speeds over 100 miles per hour on Highway 62 for over 40 miles. Salcedo-Ramirez stopped his vehicle in the roadway and pointed his firearm at the Arizona officers as they attempted to take him into custody. He ran a short distance, but surrendered without further incident.
Salcedo-Ramirez was detained and arrested on the above listed offenses. Salcedo-Ramirez was transported and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail under felony charges of failure to yield and assault on a peace officer with his bail set at $100,000.
