Heat Advisory

A Heat Advisory has been issued for the City of St. Louis from 8/23 1 PM to 8/26 9PM.

WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 are expected.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. https://go.usa.gov/xFTVh

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. The effects of high heat are cumulative. This is a 4-day heat event, meaning there will be little recovery time for those who are sensitive to heat. Heat-related illnesses will become more likely each day of the event.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heatstroke.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heatstroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

People in the Saint Louis Metropolitan Area can get information
about cooling centers or energy assistance related to the
excessive heat by calling the United Way of Greater Saint Louis at
800-427-4626, or if calling from a landline phone dial 2-1-1.
You can also call Cool Down Saint Louis at 314-241-7668. Visit https://go.usa.gov/x6ksR for information on beating the heat.
