UPDATE: As of 12:15 p.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021 This is an update to previous ReadyKern messages concerning the French Fire in the Kern River Valley. The message provides road closure information for the Fire evacuation area. The following information is complete at the time of this message. The following roads in the Fire evacuation area are closed: Highway 155 at Evans Road is closed North to Glennville. All roadways North and West of Wofford Heights Blvd. through Burlando Road within the Evacuation Order of the Wofford Heights area are closed due to the French Fire. At this time, there are no escorts being allowed by Sequoia National Forest, CHP, Kern County Sheriff's Office, Kern County Fire, or any fire personnel. Road closures are for Life Safety of all residents and the fire personnel working on the fire. You can search your address in the French Fire Interactive Evacuation Map posted at kerncountyfire.org. The evacuation center is located at Woodrow Wallace Elementary School, 3240 Erskine Creek Road, Lake Isabella. Animal Services will assist with sheltering companion animals at the center. If you have physical limitations and require evacuation assistance, please call the Aging & Adult Services hotline at 1-855-264-6565. If you have an emergency, call 911.
