Rialto, Calif. – The Rialto Police Department conducted a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, August 20, 2021, in the 400 block of E. Foothill Blvd. During this checkpoint, the Rialto Police Department, along with (7) officers from the San Bernardino Police Department and (2) officers from the Upland Police Department, made a total of (11) arrests and issued (27) citations.
Of the (11) arrests, (3) drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, (1) driver was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs (1) driver was arrested for felony transportation and possession for sales of drugs and another (6) were arrested on outstanding warrants. Of the (27) citations issued, (20) drivers were cited for being unlicensed and (7) were cited for driving under a suspended/revoked driver’s license. Those (27) driver’s license violations resulted in the impounding of (7) vehicles.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired. The Rialto Police Department is committed to keeping the public safe when they are traveling.
