Oakland Police Chief LeRonne L. Armstrong will be holding a press conference tomorrow, August 26, 2021, time to be announced. Chief Armstrong will be discussing the officer-involved shooting (OIS) that occurred today.

Background:

The Oakland Police Department is currently investigating an officer-involved shooting, that occurred today, just after 2:30 PM, in the 8400 block of Enterprise Way. A male adult who was wanted in connection with a criminal warrant for manslaughter, was not seriously injured and is currently at a local hospital, and listed in stable condition. No officers were injured during this incident. Two firearms were recovered.

It is important for us to recognize and remember any time there is an officer-involved shooting in our community, it impacts the families, officers and members of our community.

Consistent with Departmental policy, this officer-involved shooting is being investigated by the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section, Internal Affairs Division and the Community Police Review Agency (CPRA). The Oakland Police Department is committed to transparency. However, a complete investigative process requires information to be limited to maintain the integrity of the investigation. For this reason, only those preliminary details that do not compromise the investigation may be released at this time. Additional information will be released as soon as the investigation permits.
