Flood Advisory until 09:45PM Thursday

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flood Advisory for... Northwestern Greenbrier County in southeastern West Virginia...

* Until 945 PM EDT.

* At 636 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms persisting across the far western portions of Greenbrier County from near Bingham to west of Quinwood...to the far northwest corner of Greenbrier County just east of Richwood. Much of this areas is forrested. However, minor flooding throughout this area is likely with poor drainage, low-lying, and flood prone areas, including bridges, roads, and highways through this region, could experience flooding. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen and additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is likely before the precipitation ends.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Quinwood... Bingham... Areas near Richwood... Far Western Greenbrier County is the most likely place to experience minor flooding. This includes the following streams and drainages... Burdette Creek, Sam Creek, Big Clear Creek, South Fork Big Clear Creek, South Fork Cherry River, North Fork Cherry River, Peaser Branch, McMillion Creek, Meadow River, Elijah Branch, Improvement Branch, Beech Run, Little Laurel Creek and Laurel Creek. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GREENBRIER, WV
