Flood Warning until 10:00PM Friday
The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a
* Flood Warning for Urban area and small stream in... Northern Wayne County in southeastern Michigan...
* Until 1000 PM EDT.
* At 426 PM EDT, Doppler radar and the public have reported heavy rain in the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring and will continue to slowly subside through the evening hours. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen in the warned area, with locally higher amounts. There have been numerous reports of road closures throughout the warned area, including major freeways in the greater Detroit metro region. Motorists should continue to exercise extreme caution as these flooded roadways will still take some time for the floodwaters to recede.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Warren, Livonia, Southfield, Grosse Pointe, Downtown Detroit, Canton, Detroit, Dearborn, Northville, Greenfield Village, Westland, Dearborn Heights, Eastpointe, Oak Park, Allen Park, Garden City, Inkster, Hamtramck, Ferndale and Wayne. Minor river flooding will additionally be possible along the Rouge River between Garden City and Dearborn through this evening as the river may temporarily overflow its banks before quickly receding.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
