INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation
LOCATION: 13600 block of Rancherias Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Earl Bowman, 19-year-old Apple Valley resident
Adrian Avery, 19-year-old Apple Valley resident
VICTIM(S): Anthony Lozano, 20-year-old Apple Valley resident
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to investigate a vehicle that crashed into a building in the 13600 block of Rancherias Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Anthony Lozano in the driver’s seat of the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. Lozano was transported to a trauma center for treatment. On July 7, 2021, Lozano was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail conducted the investigation. During the investigation, Detectives determined Adrian Avery drove Earl Bowman to the Rancherias Road location to meet with Lozano. During the meeting, Bowman shot Lozano once and Lozano drove away, hitting the building. Bowman returned to Avery’s vehicle and they fled the location.
On Wednesday, August 21, 2021, with assistance from Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division, Bowman and Avery were located and detained. Interviews were conducted with both men and they were subsequently arrested and booked for PC187(A)-Murder. Bowman is currently being held at High Desert Detention Center. Avery is currently being held at West Valley Detention Center.
