On August 29, 2021, at approximately 7:36 pm, the West Covina Police Department responded to a call regarding a hit and run that occurred in the area of Azusa Avenue and Fairgrove Avenue. When officers and paramedics arrived they found the female victim unresponsive on the street. Life saving measures were unsuccessful and the victim was declared deceased. Through the investigation, the suspect and
suspect vehicle were located. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The victim and suspect were both juveniles. The cause of the collision is still currently under investigation and drugs/alcohol may
be a contributing factor.
The suspect was arrested and charged with gross vehicular manslaughter, hit and run resulting in death or injury, and driving under the influence.
