Please be advised, ongoing bike bath rehabilitation and parking lot rejuvenation are underway on the island, as follows:
Bike Path Rehabilitation
The bike path north of The Cottages extending to Driftwood Beach is undergoing rehabilitation and is scheduled to reopen on Friday, September 10. The asphalt bike path will be milled, recycled, and replaced with concrete paths. The new concrete paths will be enlarged by two feet in width to 8-foot-wide with a 4-inch thickness.
Flagmen may be present on the roads for intermittent traffic control. The use of alternative routes for both bicycles and vehicles is recommended during this time.
Parking Lot Rejuvenation
The parking lot extending from Great Dunes Beach Park through to the Convention Center is undergoing rejuvenation to extend the longevity of the asphalt surface. Portions of the parking lot will be closed through Friday, September 3 but access to the beach and beach park facilities will remain open adjacent to the closed areas.
