INCIDENT: Grand Theft Auto, Assault With a Deadly Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Crime

LOCATION: 15000 Block of Ceres Avenue, Fontana

SUSPECT(S): Alvaro Figueroa, 32-year-old resident of Fontana

VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY: On Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at approximately 10:57 a.m., Deputy Foyil from the Fontana Station responded to a 9-1-1 call in the 15000 block of Ceres Avenue involving a stolen vehicle. When Deputy Foyil arrived, he spoke to the owner of a vehicle who reported his truck had just been taken from his place of work. Deputy Foyil obtained a brief description of the stolen vehicle and a description of the two subjects involved in the crime. Deputy Foyil broadcasted the information to dispatch and spoke to witnesses and other victims involved in this incident.

Through the course of the investigation, Deputy Foyil was able to compose a color photo line-up involving one of the suspects, later identified as Alvaro Figueroa. Deputy Foyil learned Figueroa was also responsible for attempting to assault a victim with a dangerous weapon during the theft of the vehicle. Deputy Foyil authored an arrest warrant for Figueroa who was now wanted for theft of a vehicle and attempted assault with a dangerous weapon.  For the next two days, Deputy Foyil spoke to residents in the area and obtained leads to Figueroa's whereabouts.

On Friday, August 27, 2021, Figueroa was located hiding in a parked vehicle and taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to West Valley Detention Center and booked for grand theft auto, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Anyone with information pertaining to the other suspect involved in the crime is urged to contact investigators at the Fontana Sheriff's Station.
