Social Media Post about Kidnapping is Unfounded

It has been brought to our attention that there has been information circulating on social media about an attempted kidnapping that occurred approximately four days ago at Marina Square in San Leandro.

Although the social media postings were descriptive and disturbing, we were concerned that neither the victim, their family, nor witnesses contacted the police.

We want to take this opportunity to inform our readers that we were able to get a hold of the alleged victim, who has confirmed that the allegations of her being kidnapped are UNFOUNDED and that she was unaware of social media posting depicting her as an attempted kidnapping victim.

“We take all allegations of crimes seriously, and we are thankful to report that no such incident took place in our city,” said Captain Ali Khan.

San Leandro Police would like to remind everyone to call 911 or 510.577.2740 if they see anything suspicious and allow our staff to investigate the matter.
