A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.
Widespread rainfall of 3-5 inches over saturated soils will likely lead to flash flooding.
SYNOPSIS:
Remnants of Ida will move over our area tomorrow with the potential for 3-5” of rainfall, with locally higher amounts possible. Although no longer tropical, the storm system could produce 25-35 mph winds Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.
ADVERSE CONDITIONS:
Rain rates can be excessive at times, resulting in roadway flooding, along with small streams and creeks to flood. Given the amount of rain we have received lately that has led to saturated soil, this magnitude of rain can cause impacts to be worse than normal. Wind gusts 25 - 35 mph can bring down trees and powerlines with soft soils. Conditions will improve rapidly Thursday afternoon.

Please secure any loose outdoor items. Continue to monitor for further notices, and the local forecasts for any substantial changes. For emergencies only, contact the Ridgefield PD via 9-1-1 or (201) 943-5210. Power outages are possible due to the forecast winds. Report any outages to PSE&G at 1-800-436-PSEG (7734), and do not approach any downed power lines, even if the power appears to be out in the neighborhood, as the lines may still be live.
