Flash Flood Warning until 12:30PM

The National Weather Service in Charleston has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Northeastern Braxton County in north central West Virginia... Central Lewis County in northern West Virginia...

* Until 1230 PM EDT.

* At 920 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling across the warned area. Between 1.25 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Burnsville, Flatwoods, Falls Mills, Sand Run, Walkersville, Ireland, Heaters, Exchange and Horner.

* AFFECTED AREAS: BRAXTON, WV ... LEWIS, WV

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
