INCIDENT: Fraudulent Phone Calls
LOCATION: San Bernardino County
SUSPECT(S): Unknown
SUMMARY: Recently, it has come to the attention of the Twin Peaks Sheriff Station that fraudulent phone calls have been made by an unknown person(s) claiming to be a law enforcement officer. The subject(s) posing as a law enforcement officer tells the recipient of the phone call they have an active warrant for their arrest and to contact him/her to resolve the issue. In prior incidents, the subject(s) instructed the recipients to get gift cards from local businesses and give them the gift card access number, to "pay off" fines or warrants.
Please be aware law enforcement agencies do not call the public to advise about warrants nor do we accept any kind of gratuity to resolve a situation. Anyone receiving this type of phone call should contact their local law enforcement agency to report the incident.
